A grey, splintered deck can come back to life. We sand back the weathering, repair damaged boards, and re-oil, stain or paint your timber deck to a rich, protected finish that stands up to Melbourne's sun and rain. Backed by our 5-year workmanship warranty.

Melbourne decks take a beating. Harsh summer UV bleaches the timber grey, winter rain swells and splits the boards, and foot traffic wears the finish down to bare wood. Left too long, a neglected deck goes from weathered to genuinely unsafe. But in most cases the timber underneath is still sound — and a proper restoration can make it look better than the day it was laid.
We restore decks the thorough way. First we assess the timber and replace or re-fix any damaged, cupped or loose boards and lift any protruding nails or screws. Then we sand the entire deck back to fresh, clean timber, removing the grey oxidised layer and old flaking coatings. Finally we apply your chosen finish — a penetrating decking oil or stain to show the natural grain, or a solid deck paint for a uniform colour — in the right number of coats for lasting protection.
With over 15 years restoring timber decks across Camberwell, Brighton, Hawthorn, Kew, Glen Iris and surrounding suburbs — as Master Painters VIC & TAS members and Dulux Accredited Painters — we know how Melbourne's climate treats timber. Every deck project is backed by a written 5-year workmanship warranty.

In most cases, yes. The grey you see is just the top oxidised layer of the timber — underneath, the wood is usually still sound. Sanding removes that grey layer and exposes fresh timber, which we then oil, stain or paint. Only if boards are actually rotted or structurally failing do they need replacing, and we'll tell you honestly if that's the case when we inspect.
Decking oil soaks in and gives a natural, low-sheen finish that's easy to recoat but needs doing more often. Stain adds colour while still showing the grain. Paint gives a solid, uniform colour and hides the timber, lasting longer between coats but harder to reverse. We'll recommend the best option for your timber, your look and how much maintenance you want.
An oiled deck in Melbourne typically needs a maintenance recoat every 1–2 years, sooner for decks in full sun or heavy use. Staying on top of it with a light recoat is far cheaper than letting it weather back to grey and needing a full sand-and-restore again. We can set you up with a simple maintenance plan.
Yes. Repairing and replacing damaged, cupped or loose boards — and re-fixing popped nails and screws — is part of the restoration. We make the deck sound and safe before applying any finish, so you're not just coating over problems.
