Concrete and terracotta tile roofs fade, grow moss and turn porous over the years — drinking up water instead of shedding it. We clean, re-point, seal and recoat tile roofs with a breathable roof membrane that renews the colour and protects the tiles for years. Backed by our 5-year workmanship warranty.

Tile roofs are on a huge number of Melbourne homes, and they age in a very particular way. Concrete tiles lose their factory colour coat and become porous, soaking up rainwater and growing moss and lichen. Terracotta tiles hold their colour longer but their pointing cracks and lets go. Either way, a faded, mossy tile roof isn't just an eyesore — porous tiles hold moisture, add weight, and can lead to leaks.
We renew tile roofs properly for their material. The roof is high-pressure cleaned to strip off moss, lichen and the old degraded surface, broken tiles are replaced and ridge-cap pointing repaired where needed, and then the roof is sealed and recoated with a breathable roof membrane in your chosen colour. Breathability matters on tile — the coating needs to shed water from above while letting any trapped moisture escape, which is exactly what a proper roof membrane does and ordinary paint does not.
With over 15 years painting tile roofs across Camberwell, Brighton, Hawthorn, Kew, Glen Iris and surrounding suburbs — as Master Painters VIC & TAS members and Dulux Accredited Painters, fully insured for work at height — we get tile roofs right. Every project is backed by a written 5-year workmanship warranty.

Yes, though they're treated a little differently. Concrete tiles lose their colour coat and become porous, so sealing and recoating renews and protects them. Terracotta tiles are naturally more weather-resistant but their pointing cracks — we repair that and can recoat where suitable. We assess your tile type and recommend the right approach.
Tile roofs need to shed water from above while letting any trapped moisture escape from below. A breathable roof membrane does both; ordinary paint seals moisture in, which leads to peeling and can damage the tiles. Using the correct breathable coating is what makes a tile roof job last.
Yes. Broken and cracked tiles are replaced and cracked ridge-cap pointing repaired before we seal and coat, so the roof is sound and watertight. Painting over broken tiles just hides a leak waiting to happen, so we always repair first.
A properly cleaned, sealed and coated tile roof typically lasts 10–15 years before needing attention again, depending on exposure and the coating used. The cleaning and sealing steps are what determine longevity, which is why we never skip them.
